the associate degree in culinary arts and the bachelor degree in culinary
arts. The culinary arts associate degree can take anywhere from 9 months to
2 years to complete. The Bachelor degree in culinary arts generally takes 3
- years to complete. Obviously, the shorter the culinary arts course length,
the more likely it will prepare you for an entry-level culinary position.
Bachelor degrees in culinary arts offered by cooking schools prepare you for
eventual management positions. Affordability of cooking school or culinary school tuition Cooking schools, culinary schools and culinary arts institutes and schools charge different tuition rates, and the cost can vary very widely. Some culinary school tuition and expenses can exceed $15,000 per year. James Beard Culinary Scholarships
$3,000 partial culinary arts scholarship toward tuition for one semester (Spring 2004—$4,975; Fall 2004—$4,975; excluding airfare, lab fees and room and board) for Professional Program of Culinary Arts. Student will be responsible for $1,975 prior to arrival. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Apicius the Culinary Institute of Florence Contact: Valentina Monaco, vale@apicius.it $3,000 partial culinary arts scholarship toward tuition for one semester (Fall 2005 - $5,250; Spring 2006 - $5,250; excluding airfare, lab fees, and room and board) for Professional Program of Culinary Arts. Student must pay the remaining $2,250 before arrival. Applicant must meet the following criteria: Beginning levels: High school diploma or equivalent, English fluency. Non-beginning levels: same as above, along with detailed CV specifying any professional experience in the field for at least six months, official undergraduate transcript with courses and grades, successful performance on both an exam and a practical test before the start of the term.

To be awarded the initial scholarship, applicant must meet admission requirements, be an entering freshman, and have financial need. He or she must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better to receive award in succeeding semesters. Student must be enrolled full-time degree program. The International Cooking School of Italian Food and Wine of Bologna, Italy

James Beard Foundation General Scholarships The James Beard Foundation sets aside a portion of its general operating budget to make culinary arts scholarships grants of between $1,000 and $3,000 toward tuition at an accredited culinary school of the student’s choice. The amount of each scholarship is at the discretion of the James Beard Foundation scholarship committee.
