There are many great universities for Mechanical engineering in the U.S. Depending on your personal preference, the location of the University may play a big factor on where you will live and study. If living in a place with culture, I advise attending a university in a city. Illinois Institute of Technology, located in Chicago is a great place. Great education, great city, plenty to keep you busy in your free time, and Chicago is a very diverse and tolerant city, not to mention the gorgeous architecture.
